What to drink - KRSMA Cabernet Sauvignon

The Cabernet Sauvignon is the KRSMA flagship red, and arguably their most celebrated wine.
KRSMA Estate vineyards are primarily situated on the hills near Tavaregere, along the road to Hampi. Cabernet Sauvignon serves as KRSMA’s flagship red wine, regardless of the vintage. The grapes are sourced from gentle, north-facing slopes with iron-rich schist soil that offers excellent drainage.
During a special vertical tasting of KRSMA Cabernet Sauvignon from magnums, five vintages from 2014 to 2022 were sampled. Vertical tastings provide valuable insights into a winery’s varietal style, allowing for an appreciation of how climatic conditions in a given year influence grape characteristics and vintage variations as the wine matures. Vineyards in regions with extreme weather conditions typically exhibit more pronounced differences between vintages.
Among the wines tasted, the 2014 vintage stood out as the finest—100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for 12 months in French oak before release. This wine demonstrated remarkable depth and had retained its integrity over time. Despite its age it was an authentic expression of its terroir in the Vijayanagara district of Karnataka. For optimal enjoyment, KRSMA red wines should be decanted for 45 minutes and served at a temperature of 20°-22°C.
